Opportunity to Donate for Masjid Carpet

This is an update on the status of the purchase of carpet for the Masjid at 1609 London Line. We have successfully located a Muslim Carpet Manufacturer in Toronto who is willing to produce a "Mussalla" type carpet for us. This type of carpet has praying area defined for every individual so that it is like praying at your own Mussalla or Jaye-Namaz in the mosque. Since this carpet is a special order, the manufacturer was reluctant on producing any carpet for an order of less than 500-700 square yards. Based on our negotiaitions and his willingness to produce the carpet for our mosque, God willing we have agreed to a purchase of 355 square yards at $32 per square yard. This means the carpet would cost approximately $13000 and when you include underpad and installation, the estimated cost approaches $20,000. There are approximately 200 spots for praying. This means that each spot is about $100.

At present the construction budget does not include any money for the carpet. Therefore, Br. Khizar and Br. Amran have agreed to sponsor the purchase of the carpet and to raise funds for this purpose. In about one week they have received donations for 45 Mussalla's from 4 people. These Mussalla's are going fast and this opportunity for Sadaqah Jariyah may not last long (Sadaqah Jariyah is a charity that lives on as long as people pray in our masjid). Muslims in Sarnia are embarking upon building a new Masjid (Mosque) and in need of your generous donation.

Let us all be inspired by the verses of the Holy Quran and the Hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad which illustrates the merits of giving for the love of Almighty Allah.

"Whatever you contribute for the cause of Allah, it shall be repaid to you in full." (Holy Quran 8:60)

"By no means shall you attain righteousness unless you give freely of that you love; and whatever you give, of a truth Allah knows it well". (Holy Quran 3:92)

The Holy Prophet said "wealth is never diminished because of charity, it is rather purified and blessed".

Over the past few years, we have seen a steady growth in our community. We have grown beyond to a multinational Islamic community of about fifty families.

The current Masjid (Mosque) is too small to handle the congregational prayers and gathering during Ramadan & Eid. It is also becoming very limiting for weekly Islamic school to carry out the school activities.

Realizing the current needs of the Islamic community in Sarnia and the future need for the new generation, our small community embarked on a large project to build a new Islamic Center & Masjid. The new center will be located close to highway 402, 100 km west of London, Ontario near the Canadian-American border crossing. The site can also house future Muslim camps and potentially an appropriate location for a Muslim retirement home.

Our community members put their trust in Allah and started this project a few years ago by purchasing a parcel of land (7 acres) for the future center. The new center will be more than four times larger than the current facility. The land is large enough to offer the opportunity for future expansion as needed.

We have been and continue to raise locally the necessary funds for the construction of the center, but obviously we need the help of the brothers and sisters in other localities.
